Guests at Lord Stanley enjoy simple yet refined Californian cuisine, with European influences. Husband and wife chefs/owners Rupert and Carrie Blease have created a small and concise menu that changes often and reflects the seasons. Located on Polk Street in Russian Hill, Lord Stanley will offer simple yet refined cuisine with European influences served in a casual, friendly atmosphere. The wine list will focus on unique and exciting organic/biodynamic wines from around the world. Rupert and Carrie Blease are the owners and co-Chefs of Lord Stanley. Their training stems from working throughout Europe and the US, most notably at Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons, Per Se, Blue Hill, Texture, L’ Amphytrion, and locally at Central Kitchen and Commonwealth. Rupert and Carrie aim to bring influences from their travels and experiences to Lord Stanley, resulting in a menu that is simple yet refined, with British and European influences. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, with a stand up bar serving unique and exciting wines from Wine Director Louisa Smith. LORD STANLEY is following the European style of service, in which gratuity is included. Therefore tipping is neither required, nor expected. Following a European style of service, LORD STANLEY has decided to include gratuity in the price of the meal and do away with tipping. Due to the appropriate increase of minimum wage in San Francisco and the Bay Area, many establishments have adopted this new system of paying their employees. We feel that the current model of ‘minimum wage plus tip’ does not fit with the way we want to run our company and support our employees. As a small business with a focused staff, we know that our entire team works equally towards our guests’ experience. Our employees are the most important asset to our company and we are confident that by implementing the tip-included pricing at LORD STANLEY, we are ensuring that we can afford to pay a living wage to all staff. As working owners of LORD STANLEY, we will strive to meet our guests’ needs and our own expectations and standards at all times. We trust that this business model will allow us to meet these standards.
